The projects available under Apple's Darwin umbrella include projects that have been released by Apple under the Apple Public Source License, as well as third party projects that are accompanied by their own licenses. Please read these licenses carefully before using the projects. Most of the third party licenses accompany the corresponding source code.

For access to Apple-developed open source projects, you will need to register as a member of the Apple open source community by accepting the Apple Public Source License and choosing a user name and password. Non-Apple third party open source projects can be accessed without such registration.
