[2] Apple Upgrades Xserve G5
Apple has upgraded its Xserve 1U rack optimized server to deliver dual 64-bit 2.3GHz PowerPC G5 processors with over 35 gigaflops of processing power per system. With the industry's fastest front side 1U server system bus, running at up to 1.15GHz, Xserve offers up to 9.2GBps of bandwidth per processor and up to three 400GB drives, achieving a groundbreaking 1.2TB of hot-plug storage.

[3] New Release: Xsan
Apple is now shipping Xsan, a high performance, enterprise class Storage Area Network (SAN) file system. Xsan file system software combined with Apple's Xserve RAID storage hardware delivers a powerful, easy-to-manage, enterprise class SAN solution at a breakthrough low price.

[4] Oracle Database 10g Available for Mac OS X Server
Now certified on Mac OS X Server, Oracle Database 10g is the first database designed for grid computing, offering a cost-effective way to manage enterprise information. Developers can download both Oracle Database 10g and newly certified Mac OS X integrated development environment, Oracle JDeveloper 10g, direct from the Oracle website.

[5] InfoWorld Announces 2005 Technology of the Year Awards
Apple Xserve G5 won InfoWorld's "Best Server Hardware" award and Mac OS X v10.3 Panther won the "Best Operating System" award. The awards recognize significant technologies of the past year that promise to make the greatest impact on enterprise IT strategies, as well as the products that best exemplify the implementation of those technologies.

[6] System Administration Tool News: 123 Flash Chat Server Software, SQL4X Manager J 2.9.1
123 Flash Chat Server Software from TopCMM Software Technologies is a full-featured, high performance Java chat server with a Flash chat client. It is easy to install, configure, and customize, and new features include the auto-detection of language, an invisible admin module, a change-nickname function, and a one-to-one private window.

SQL4X Manager J 2.9.1 from MACOSGURU is a professional database tool for web and database developers, administrators and power users. It automatically recognizes the local database server and saves administrators time with more than 80 assistants and tools. This update includes support for new database servers, GUI enhancements (Job Scheduler), and new features for enhanced SQL script handling.
[7] Web Development Tool News: BasaOne Classes 1.1
BasaOne Classes 1.1 from Basasoft expands the BasaOne development environment and speeds up web application development through the reuse of pre-made objects. This release adds new classes and projects, including a currency converter (simple and advanced), a Finder window type box, an Alert window, a checkbox with text, and more.

[11] Mac OS X Tool News: PyObjC 1.2, VISE X 1.5
PyObjC 1.2 from Source Forge provides a bridge between the Python and Objective-C programming languages, allowing a Python programmer transparent access to Objective-C-based classes and APIs. You can now write Cocoa applications in Python, using Interface Builder to design the user interface.

VISE X 1.5 from MindVision Software enables developers to create single-file updaters -- compact installers that contain just enough information to update Mac OS X applications quickly and safely based on the differences between the old and new versions. This latest version also features the ability to make changes to the Dock or Startup Items, check the user's install permissions, use shadows of folders to reduce installer size, and share forms between archives.

[12] Useful Utilities: CLIX 1.5, Xupport 2.3
CLIX 1.5 from Rixstep is a command-line interface for Mac OS X with an Aqua look-and-feel. It offers 468 commands and security features, including the ability to disable systemwide 'sudo' authorization upon entering sleep mode.

Xupport 2.3 from Computer-Support is a graphical user interface that helps developers configure the many hidden options in Mac OS X. It provides many functions to maintain, optimize, backup and enhance Mac OS X. The release features a new Settings tab, Sharepoints for installing additional shared directories, online UNIX manuals, and some minor revisions.
