The submission deadline for the WWDC 2004 issue of ADC News is Friday, June 18. To request placement of WWDC-related announcements, product releases, discounts, or services, please complete the ADC News submission form. Please indicate your announcement date and specify "WWDC Edition."

[1] WWDC News: Student Developer Career Reception, WWDC Session Descriptions Translated into Japanese
WWDC attendees are invited to meet Apple's top student developers at the Student Developer Career Reception on Sunday, June 27. This informal event is designed for developers attending WWDC to meet, establish connections with, and recruit students for internships or full time employment. These students have been awarded a full conference pass through an extremely competitive scholarship program.

[2] New Release: Kernel Debug Kit
The Kernel Debug Kit contains debug versions of the Mac OS X kernel and many I/O Kit families for use with GDB remote (two-machine) debugging. These files contain full symbolic information, unlike the equivalent files in a normal Mac OS X installation. Also included are GDB macros useful for kernel debugging.

QuickLite 1.0.2 from Tito Ciuro is a Cocoa wrapper for SQLite, the embeddable SQL database engine. It includes SQLite and provides you with a SQL database without running a separate RDBMS process. QuickLite acts as the server itself,reading and writing directly to and from the database files on disk.
[4] Web Development Tool News: eSuite4X 2.8, Mergemill 3.6.3, WebDesign 2.5
eSuite4X 2.8 Web Developer Edition for Mac OS X from InterServices New Media allows web developers to easily install and run a database-driven website. The eSuite4X distribution combines the power of open source products with first-class commercial software to bring you a Macintosh-like user experience. This release includes more than 20 new features.
Mergemill 3.6.3 from Cross Culture Limited is a versatile tool for database or web publishing. It merges templates with content source files to create the desired output. Users may use the free web templates provided to quickly build websites. Version 3.6.3 fixes several bugs.
WebDesign 2.5 from Rage Software is an update to the fully-featured web authoring package for Mac OS X. This new version adds an improved Mac OS X interface with all new icons and less window clutter. It also includes extensive preview options with the ability to preview server side scripting languages directly within the application.

[8] Mac OS X Tool News: FileWave X 1.6.1, Installer VISE 8.4, PyObjC 1.1
FileWave X 1.6.1 from FileWave is an automated software distribution tool for Mac OS X. This update includes a number of speed increases to the FileWave XServer and FileWave XAdmin. In addition a new FileWave Booster that is a multithreaded, UNIX based daemon is part of the update. This is a free update for current customers.
Installer VISE 8.4 from MindVision Software is an upgrade to its full-featured installer creator for Mac OS X. This new version includes improved bundle detection and display, advanced drive detection, better error reporting and prevention, and more.
PyObjC 1.1 from Ronald Oussoren provides a bridge between the Python and Objective-C programming languages, allowing the Python programmer transparent accesss to Objective-C-based classes and APIs. The major new feature in this release is full support for Key-Value Observing (an enabling technology of Cocoa Bindings).

Learn more about developing great Cocoa applications with Aaron, who will discuss best practices, practical examples and entertaining anecdotes. Aaron will also sign copies of his books, Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X (2nd edition) and Core Mac OS X and UNIX Programming.
James Duncan Davidson, Software Engineer and Author June 30 at 7 PM
Join James as he discusses why Mac OS X is the platform of choice for top Java developers. He explains how to make the switch and how to develop Java applications for multiple platforms. James will also sign his books, which include Running Mac OS X Panther and Cocoa in a Nutshell.
These are free events at the Apple Store, San Francisco, taking place in conjunction with WWDC and JavaOne.
