[1] Free Listings in Apple's Macintosh Products Guide
Be sure to list your Mac OS X applications in Apple's online Macintosh Products Guide once they're ready. You can highlight applications that are "Built for Mac OS X" and those that are "Classic Compatible." Simple product listings are free, and larger banner ads can be purchased for a nominal fee.

[2] New Releases: Apple USB DDK 1.5.5f1, iMac Power Management Update 1.0
Apple USB DDK 1.5.5f1 is the latest prereleased version of Apple's Universal Serial Bus (USB) driver development kit. This kit gives you some of the tools that you need to write your own USB drivers. This release provides support for PCI USB cards that don't support Power Management correctly.

The iMac Power Management Update 1.0 keeps your iMac settings for a longer period of time if it becomes disconnected from AC power.

[5] Web Development Tool News: 4D Server 6.7.5, ObjectTools 1.6.3, QuickCode Pro 4.33
4D Server v6.7.5 from 4D offers application developers a client/server and web development environment for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, and Windows. This version includes the rich feature set found with 4D v6.7 including: HTML 4.0 and CSS1, SSL, full CGI support, XML, WML, Form Inheritance, triggers and stored procedures, dynamic forms, all-new 4D tools, and many other new commands. 4D applications developed with version 6.7 of 4D benefit from the features found in Mac OS X and require no code revision to work with 4D Server 6.7.5.

ObjectTools 1.6.3 by Aparajita Fishman is a plug-in that gives you a full suite of commands for managing BLOBs (Binary Large Objects). This release includes a few bug fixes and some new features as well as a new registration scheme.

QuickCode Pro 4.33 by Aparajita Fishman is an improved method editor for working with 4D databases. This release features system-level drag-and-drop, a powerful find-and-replace capability, programmable macros, and more.
[6] System Administration Tool News: MacAnalysis 2.0b7, QuickDNS Pro 3.5.1, Sawmill 6.2.2
MacAnalysis 2.0b7 from Lagoon Software prevents hacker intrusions by finding "holes" in your server, then providing suggestions on how to eliminate the "back doors." This release includes an improved Ping tool, a new export feature for several lists, and a host of other improvements and bug fixes.

QuickDNS Pro 3.5.1 from Men & Mice is a DNS (domain name service) server and DNS Management System for the Mac OS platform, fully replacing the UNIX DNS servers with its full feature set, fast performance, and reliability. This is a maintenance release.

Sawmill 6.2.2 from Flowerfire is a hierarchical log analysis tool, well suited for web server access and referrer logs. It runs as a CGI program on your web server, and publishes an intuitive GUI (graphical user interface) that can be used from any web browser. This release adds a converter for 6.0/6.1 databases, several new log formats, an option to limit CPU usage, and a number of bug fixes.

Support Crossing is a new Web Crossing-based intranet/extranet implementation preconfigured with tools especially tailored for customer and technical support. With this application, setting up a high-quality online customer support space is easy, with ticket tracking and support team administration features.

[7] Second Edition of Java & XML Book Available
The second edition of "Java & XML: Solutions to Real-World Problems," by Brett McLaughlin, can now be ordered from the O'Reilly web site. This edition features new chapters on Advanced SAX, Advanced DOM, SOAP, and data binding, as well as new examples throughout. It's targeted at Java developers working with XML or involved in messaging, web services, or the new peer-to-peer movement.

[9] New Releases: CarbonLib 1.4.5d6 SDK
CarbonLib 1.4.5d6 SDK is now available to all ADC Members. This SDK provides all the files needed to begin Carbon development. CarbonLib 1.4 supports Mac OS 8.6 and greater.

[11] Mac OS Tool News: CodeWarrior for Mac OS v7.0, CPLAT 3.5
CodeWarrior for Mac OS v7.0 is Metrowerk's powerful tool suite for developing Mac OS X applications. Version 7.0 gives you the power to develop for multiple hosts and multiple targets (Mac OS 9 and prior, Carbon, Native Mac OS X, and Java). Included with CodeWarrior for Mac OS v7.0 is PowerPlant, an object-oriented C++ framework that allows developers to create applications faster and more easily than before.

CPLAT 3.5 from Ksoft is a low-cost C++ framework that supports Mac OS X and Windows. It also includes a RADTool/Resource Editor for developing required resources. This version adds Linux support and a new set of text classes for text editing with WASTE, MLTE, and RichEdit2.
[12] Useful Utilities: Dev Helper 1.0, FileGeek 3.3
Dev Helper 1.0 by Theodore Henry Smith is a multipurpose developer utility that includes a Project Manager, Classes and Modules, an extensive character analysis feature, and more.

FileGeek 3.3 from Koingo is a shareware product that lets you easily apply file type attributes (including Type, Creator, Invisibility, NameLocked and HasCustomIcon) to single documents or contents of folders. Changes include Italian localization and updated menus.

Deneba Software has announced the availability of a special public preview version of Canvas 8 Professional, which has been optimized for Mac OS X. This version contains hundreds of enhancements and advanced new features, such as vector and raster sequence recording. The new version also contains customizable Web Image Slicing and direct Flash export.
