The ADC Compatibility Labs in Cupertino, California, maintain more than 150 configurations of Apple hardware. The following newly released equipment is now available for developer compatibility testing:

Use of the ADC Compatibility Labs is a no-charge benefit of ADC Premier and Select membership. ADC Premier members may use the labs for 3 days each month, and ADC Select members may use it 2 days each month.

[4] Java Tool News: NetBeans 4.1 Early Access, Plum Stone 1.1
NetBeans 4.1 Early Access is an early access release of the NetBeans IDE 4.1. The project delivers significant new development capabilities for the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition 1.4 (J2EE), including Enterprise Java Bean (EJB) components and Web Services.

Plum Stone 1.1 by Bob Lang is freeware that enables "pure" Java MIDI I/O so that the many Java MIDI applications written for other platforms can be run on Mac OS X.

[5] System Administration Tool News: CrushFTP 3.6, FrameSeer
CrushFTP 3.6 by Ben Spinks is a full scale FTP server, with bandwidth limiting, users/groups, ratios, quotas, plug-ins, a virtual file system, load balancing, and on-the-fly "zipping" of files or directories. This version Improves the remote administration interface, fixes a number of bugs.

FrameSeer from LGOSystems is a network packet capture, decode, and analysis utility. This release adds the latest IANA protocol numbers, an example of how to perform additional analysis using a spreadsheet application, and printing bug fixes.

[14] New Releases: QuickTime 6.5.2
QuickTime 6.5.2 includes a security update, enhancements in the Apple Lossless Encoder and AAC codecs, as well as improved support for iTunes and other QuickTime-based applications.
[15] Multimedia Tool News: Swift 3D 4.0
Swift 3D 4.0 from Electric Rain is a standalone application allowing designers to build and export vector and raster-based 3D animations to the Macromedia Flash (SWF) file format, as well as other popular formats. This new release adds an advanced 3D modeling environment, improved controls for precise mapping of textures, enhanced animation path tools, and more. Swift 3D Xpress, a plug-in for Macromedia Flash, is also available.

U.S. and international winners of the 2004 Mac OS X Innovators Contest awards were announced at the O'Reilly Mac OS X Conference on October 26, 2004. First and second place winners in the U.S. category received ADC Premier and Select memberships, respectively.

[17] Mac OS X Seminar: Using IBM XL Fortran and C/C++ Compilers with Xcode
In this technical talk, IBM and Apple engineers will describe how to use IBM XL Fortran and C/C++ compilers with Xcode Tools. IBM's XL Fortran, C, and C++ compilers for Mac OS X supply Xcode plug-ins that combine the power of the Xcode IDE with IBM's industry-leading optimization technology. The seminar will be held on November 3 at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA from 7:30 to 9:30 PM, in the Maxwell Dworkin Bldg, 33 Oxford Street, Room 119. This session is open to all Apple Developer Connection members and their guests and does not require an RSVP or pre-registration.
