Apple Developer Connection Holiday Schedule

The Apple Developer Connection will be closed on Friday, December 24 and will re-open on Monday, December 27. We will also be closed on Friday, December 31 and will re-open on Monday, January 3.

ADC Developer Technical Support will be closed starting Friday, December 24 and will re-open on Monday, January 3.

[1] Apple Dashboard Widget Contest Deadline Reminder
The deadline for the second Apple Dashboard Widget Contest is coming up January 5. The contest is open ADC members with access to the latest pre-release version of Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger. Widget entries will be judged on technical excellence, innovation, and ease-of-use. The developer who creates the winning Widget will receive a 40GB iPod.

Rumpus FTP 4.0 from Maxum Development is an Internet file transfer server for Mac OS X. In this release, the interface has been redesigned and the underlying engine has been optimized so that it is faster, more efficient and reliable. New features include fast context-sensitive help; an expanded setup assistant; integrated self-diagnosis of common problems; direct use of BSD sockets; easier access to controls and server reports.

[5] "Beginning AppleScript" Released by Wily Publishers
This book, "Beginning AppleScript," provides a comprehensive guide to using AppleScript on Mac OS X. It teaches how to efficiently start writing scripts through many sample programs. Exercises at the end of each chapter allow readers to test and demonstrate their knowledge. A chapter on scripting iLife applications shows how to write scripts for iTunes, iPhoto, and iDVD.

AgentSheets 1.6 is a visual programming tool for creating agent-based simulation games. It is sophisticated enough to build complex A.I. simulations, yet simple enough for kids to build and publish web-based games. This new release includes OpenGL-based 3D plotting and AppleScript support.
