Support for Playback of VBR Audio

QuickTime 4.1 and the Sound Manager introduce support for the playback of variable bitrate (VBR) audio. Prior to this release, QuickTime only supported constant bitrate (CBR) audio. However, a number of modern audio compression formats -- such as MP3 -- either support or require VBR encoding. This is provided in the current QuickTime 4.1 release.
