Pre-Release Software

Who is eligible to receive pre-release software?

ADC Select and Premier members receive pre-release builds of many Apple technologies. There is no extra charge for this extended seeding program, as it is one of the benefits of ADC Select and Premier Membership. This information, delivered early in the development cycle, is provided to help developers bring new and innovative products with the latest Mac OS X features and compatibility to market sooner. (While Apple provides pre-release software for many projects, there may be some projects which necessarily need to be limited in their early stages.)

To be eligible to receive pre-release software, you must first be a member of the Apple Developer Connection with an active ADC Software Seed Key asset. All ADC members must agree to the online ADC Terms and Conditions (PDF) to become an ADC member.

Once you have purchased an ADC Select or Premier Membership and the Membership is active, you will have instant access to “Download Software”, where you can download pre-release software. You will also begin to receive the “ADC Seed Update” emails and, when available, seeding on DVD.

I want to give others at my company access to “Download Software”. What should I do?

If you are an ADC Premier or Select member, you have five ADC Software Seed Keys assigned to your account. You may transfer a key to other ADC members in your company (please see the ADC Terms and Conditions (PDF) for eligibility requirements on sharing confidential information).

To transfer a key, log in to your ADC account, and proceed to the “Manage Assets” page to transfer an ADC Software Seed Key to another ADC member at your company. Once you have transferred a key, this recipient will have immediate access to the pre-release software in the “Download Software” area and will receive the next “ADC Seed Update” email. Refer to, How do I transfer assets? located in the ADC Membersite FAQ for more information.

How will I find out when new pre-release software is available?

Whenever a version of new pre-release software is posted, the “ADC Seed Update” is sent by email to all ADC members who have an ADC Software Seed Key. Provided in the email will be a list of seeds posted to the “Download Software” area of the ADC Member Site.

You may also view the “What's New” section of the “Download Software” area for a list of the latest pre-release software at any time.

Are there other Apple programs that offers access to pre-release software?

The Apple Software Customer Seeding program is an Apple program that provides end-users with an opportunity to test pre-release software while empowering them with the ability to provide feedback directly into engineering. Please visit Apple Customer Seeding for more information.
