This article briefly describes the latest enhancements to the ADC Reference
Library to help you get the most out of ADC content. Future versions of this
article will preserve previous entries, so you can quickly catch up with earlier
improvements if you've been away for a while. If this is your first time in the
Reference Library, you might want to read Making the Most of the ADC Reference
Library to get a brief overview of its features.
New Resource Type: Featured Articles
As of May 2007, the ADC Reference Library has added a new resource
type: Featured Articles, which are now part of the Reference Library so
they can be located with other relevant resources, and can be searched
for and sorted like other Reference Library resource types.

Featured Articles include introductory essays on new tools and APIs,
brief tutorials to get you familiar with using new technologies, as
well as success stories that shine a light on developers who are using
the Mac OS X platform to build great products.
Written by some of the best writers and developers on the Mac platform,
these articles are a great place to learn what's new and useful on Mac
OS X. Read about the latest version of Xcode, try using Python with Quartz, or
experiment with some open source solutions on Mac OS X. ADC Featured Articles regularly target
interesting topics that help get you started, learn quickly and improve
your products.
Use the Jump To menu or the resource-type Display menu to
select Featured Articles to browse ADC's extensive collection of
Articles on technology categories such as Audio, Cocoa, Carbon,
Graphics & Imaging, Internet & Web, Open Source, Performance, and Tools.

Featured Articles are meant to supplement the other ADC Resource types,
and show you suggested approaches to solving programming problems,
such as optimizing your application with Shark, streamlining development tasks with
Automator, or contributing to the Web Kit nightly builds.

Featured Articles also include the Leopard Overview Series that introduces new Leopard
tools and technologies to developers, as the Leopard release approaches and
after.
New Category: Scripting & Automation
To better serve Mac OS X scripting developers as well as system
administrators and others who want to automate their workflows, the ADC
Reference Library has added a new topic: Scripting & Automation.
The Scripting & Automation topic helps developers who program with
scripting languages find related articles, programming guides, samples,
reference documents, Technical Q&As, and other resources. Application
developers will also find information in Scripting & Automation to help
them make their applications scriptable with AppleScript.

With its extensive scripting support that integrates with many Apple
technologies, Mac OS X can help automate jobs ranging from system
administration, to web content creation, to implementation of complex,
multi-application workflows. To make automation even easier, the
Automator application offers a simple drag-and-drop interface for users
to create sophisticated workflows involving Mac OS X system services and
Apple applications. Developers and script writers can also create their
own Automator actions, allowing applications, shell scripts, and
AppleScript scripts to be called from within Automator workflows.
AppleScript script writers will find that all of the content
previously listed in the AppleScript topic appears now in the
AppleScript area under Scripting & Scriptability, as well as in other
relevant locations of the ADC Reference Library.
