Welcome to Apple's QuickTime Third Party Component Program
Want to be sure that customers can create and/or play media that has
been generated using your Codec? Apply today to participate in the
QuickTime Third Party Component program; this program ensures that QuickTime users will have easier, more immediate access to your media components.
How the QuickTime Third Party Component Program Works
Rather than requiring the user to seek out your components,
this program allows the components to be instantly offered and easily found.
For QuickTime 7, the user experience will be different than before. A QuickTime 7 user who encounters content that requires a third party QuickTime component for playback will be greeted with a dialog box that asks them if they'd like to go to a web page to check for the missing software. If the user elects to continue, they will be taken to the 3rd party component page where third party QuickTime components are listed and described. The user then selects one of the components and is taken to the 3rd party's website to download the component.
