Java 1.3.1 and 1.4.2 Release 2 provides numerous enhancements and bug fixes for Apple’s implementation of Java on Mac OS X v.10.4. This release includes compatibility with Sun’s Java 2 Platform Standard Edition, versions 1.4.2_09 and 1.3.1_16. If you are just beginning Java development for Mac OS X, you can probably just read the “Outstanding Issues” chapter. Otherwise, it is recommended that Java developers read all chapters.
