The Business Chat Sandbox is a staging environment for businesses and developers who want to evaluate Business Chat on devices running iOS 11.3 or later. You can send messages from the Sandbox and receive them on your iOS device to get a sense of how your customers interact with Business Chat. Explore some of Business Chat's built-in features, like scheduling an appointment using the time picker or selecting an item from a list using the list picker.
As a Customer Service Platform (CSP) provider, you can use the sandbox to gain a better understanding of how to add Business Chat support to your messaging platform. You can view JSON payloads and data structures, compare inputs and outputs with the API reference, and more.

Sign in to the Sandbox
You’ll need a device running iOS 11.3 or later to use the Business Chat Sandbox.
On your iOS device, sign in to Messages using your Apple ID. Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID.
Sign in to Business Chat Sandbox with the Apple ID you are using for Messages. A QR code appears the first time you log in.
Scan the QR code with the camera on your iOS device. Then follow the notification on the top to launch a Business Chat conversation with the Business Chat Sandbox.
Test Your Business Use Cases
The Business Chat sandbox environment allows you to test JSON payloads before and after implementating Business Chat APIs, such as rich links or authentication messages. You can edit the JSON payloads and experiment with them to observe how customers might interact with them. In addition to testing built-in apps for Business Chat, you can also test your own app by sending it to an iOS device using the Business Chat Sandbox.
You can use the Business Chat Sandbox to perform the following tasks:
Send and receive text messages
Download attachments, including images and video
Enhance your customer experience with list pickers, time pickers, authentication requests, and Apple Pay requests
Send custom iMessage Extensions
Test custom payloads
Troubleshoot Sandbox Tests
If you run into trouble while trying out Business Chat in the sandbox, make sure you've considered these issues:
Messages can only be exchanged if the same account is signed in to Business Chat Sandbox and your device.
Attachments sent must be less than 5 MB.
The data transmitted between Business Chat Sandbox and your device is stored in your CloudKit private database for 30 days. When the data expires, you will need to start a new test case.
