# init(initialValue:)

Creates the published instance with an initial value.

```

## Parameters

`initialValue`

The publisher’s initial value.

## Discussion

Don’t use this initializer directly. Instead, create a property with the `@Published` attribute, as shown here:

@Published var lastUpdated: Date = Date()
```
