# mappingType

The mapping type for the entity mapping.

## Discussion

If you specify a custom entity mapping type, you must specify a value for the migration policy class name as well (see [`entityMigrationPolicyClassName`](/documentation/CoreData/NSEntityMapping/entityMigrationPolicyClassName)).
