# CGBlendMode.exclusion

Produces an effect similar to that produced by [`CGBlendMode.difference`](/documentation/CoreGraphics/CGBlendMode/difference), but with lower contrast. Source image sample values that are black don’t produce a change; white inverts the background color values.
