# init(identifier:)

Creates a locale with the specified identifier.

```

## Parameters

`identifier`

A BCP-47 language identifier such as `en_US` or `en-u-nu-thai-ca-buddhist`, or an ICU-style identifier such as `en@calendar=buddhist;numbers=thai`.
