# encodeBytes(_:length:)

Encodes a buffer of data of an unspecified type.

func encodeBytes(_ byteaddr: UnsafeRawPointer?, length: Int)
```

## Discussion

The buffer to be encoded begins at `address`, and its length in bytes is given by `numBytes`.

This method must be matched by a corresponding [`decodeBytes(withReturnedLength:)`](/documentation/Foundation/NSCoder/decodeBytes(withReturnedLength:)) message.
