A location on a map when the Earth's surface is projected onto a 2D surface.

Overview

A map point at (0, 0) corresponds to the point at the northwest extreme of a 2D map projection, and (1, 1) corresponds to the point at the southeast extreme.

As another point of reference, mapkit.MapPoint(0.5, 0.5) corresponds to mapkit.coordinate(0, 0).
