# caption

Represents a closed-caption or subtitle with one or more text blocks.

## Discussion

A `caption` element contains one or more [text](/documentation/Professional-Video-Applications/text) elements each of which describes a block of text with custom styles.

> Note:
> FCPXML 1.8 and later includes the `caption` element to add closed captions and subtitles to a clip.
