# delegate

The delegate of the scroll view.

## Discussion

The delegate must adopt the [`UIScrollViewDelegate`](/documentation/UIKit/UIScrollViewDelegate) protocol. The [`UIScrollView`](/documentation/UIKit/UIScrollView) class, which doesn’t retain the delegate, invokes each protocol method the delegate implements.
