# UIViewReservedRegion

A region within a view’s coordinate space that another entity reserves.

```
@interface UIViewReservedRegion : NSObject
```

## Overview

A reserved region indicates an area within a view’s coordinate space that an entity reserves, such as the device hardware. Arrange your view content to account for this region. Each region describes a frame, margins, active state, and an identifier.

There are two categories of reserved regions:

- [`occlusionRegionKind`](/documentation/UIKit/UIViewReservedRegionKind/occlusionRegionKind): An area where an element, such as the Dynamic Island, a camera, or window controls, covers your content. Place content outside this area.
- [`divisionRegionKind`](/documentation/UIKit/UIViewReservedRegionKind/divisionRegionKind): An area where content splits into separate regions, such as at the fold of a hinge. Arrange your content on both sides of this area.

Read reserved regions using the [`reservedRegionsOfKind:options:`](/documentation/UIKit/UIView/reservedRegionsOfKind:options:) method, which returns the reserved regions that overlap your view. By default, the method returns only active regions that affect your view. To also get inactive regions, pass [`UIViewReservedRegionQueryOptionsIncludeInactive`](/documentation/UIKit/UIViewReservedRegionQueryOptions/UIViewReservedRegionQueryOptionsIncludeInactive).

## Topics

### Getting region details

[`@property (nonatomic, readonly) CGRect frame;`](/documentation/UIKit/UIViewReservedRegion/frame)

The rect of the region in the view’s coordinate space, including the margins.

[`@property (nonatomic, readonly, getter=isActive) BOOL active;`](/documentation/UIKit/UIViewReservedRegion/active)

Whether the region is currently active.

[`@property (nonatomic, readonly) UIViewReservedRegionKind * kind;`](/documentation/UIKit/UIViewReservedRegion/kind)

The kind of the region.

[`@interface UIViewReservedRegionKind : NSObject`](/documentation/UIKit/UIViewReservedRegionKind)

A kind of reserved region.

[`@property (nonatomic, readonly) UIViewReservedRegionIdentifier * identifier;`](/documentation/UIKit/UIViewReservedRegion/identifier)

The identifier of the region.

[`@interface UIViewReservedRegionIdentifier : NSObject`](/documentation/UIKit/UIViewReservedRegionIdentifier)

An identifier of a reserved region.

[`@property (nonatomic, readonly) UIEdgeInsets margins;`](/documentation/UIKit/UIViewReservedRegion/margins)

The margins included in the frame around the reserved rect for interactive content.

### Querying reserved regions

[`enum UIViewReservedRegionQueryOptions : NSUInteger;`](/documentation/UIKit/UIViewReservedRegionQueryOptions)

Options for querying reserved regions.
