As probably everyone who has been gaming on this knows by now, the M1 iPad Pros are very far from “blazing fast” that so many reviews mention. Genshin Impact runs very poorly and overheats after 2 minutes, PUBG looks and runs exactly the same as iPads from years ago (mostly thanks to Tencent’s lack of interest in anything other than moneygrabbing)… and other games don’t really do any better than on older models. Is this partially due to Apple’s throttling and bad design? Powerful chip in a device that’s too thin and can’t handle resultant thermals at all? Or is it developers not optimizing at all? Or a combination of both? I’m just asking so I know whether to hope for improvements on Apple’s side with iPad OS 15, or not. A supposedly powerful chip that’s good for 5 minutes before it throttles to nothing is useless for games.
