The nice review people responded but I'm even more confused! We noticed that your app provides the same feature set as other apps submitted to the App Store; it simply varies in content or language, which is considered a form of spam. I've only ever submitted this one app ... or do they mean there are other similar apps out there by other people?

Thanks Laurel_WWDC that's interesting/helpful I got a reply from the general developer contact link, which is not specific to my app, but they confirmed an app can both be rejected but remain in review. That's what I didn't realise, and is the what I needed to know at this point. It's all a learning process! I come from a web backgound. Really enjoying the Apple platform so far. It's kind of nice to be working within a specific framework. The web has become so fragmented, it's a mess frankly.

Hi, thanks for reply Yes this is all coming from resoution centre. There's one message there that appeared before the rejection chronologically, as far as I can tell. It says words to the effect of "your app is taking longer to review than normal" but there's no opportunity to respond. Also the title of that message is "other other" as if the issue doesn't fit into any particular category. Then in the left hand column it says "binary rejected". The only other piece of info is on the main app page which reads "1 unresolved iOS issue". This clicks through to the resolution centre. Perhaps I'm reading it wrong and what it's saying is "your app has been rejected but we're still working out why". The odd thing was, I got an email at 12:20 to say the app was going into review and then an email at 12:25 saying it was rejected. A mere 5 minute gap suggests to me something automated perhaps. It's not intended for iPad but I was definitely periodically checking it on iPads in simulator during the build though I might not have done so with the very last version. I'll check this. As I say I'm new to this so not sure what to expect. Will the Appstore review team always engage with you sooner or later with rejected apps or can there be "dead ends" so to speak? Should I expect a detailed reason for a rejection or are you expected to work it out yourself?
