Hi Guys, I'm approaching to buy a new MBP 13 to replace my Early 2013 MPB 15.
Most of the time, I'm develop web applications based on .NET Core for webapis and Angular for frontend.
My actual equipment is not enough in terms of RAM so Intel Based Mac with 32GB shall fit enough.
But, newly M1 bumped my brain, and I'm curious to know more about it's performance in my daily job routine.
Is there anyone that used it in a scenario like mine?
Thanks!

Hello! Help please, after updating the system to Big Sur, my MacBook Pro 13 began to slow down, previously there were no such problems.
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
2,7 GHz 2‑core processor Intel Core i5
8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

Why do you have to cut us users more and more? Since 2013 I use a custom resolution of 1920x1200 HiDPI on my MacBook Pro 13" with help of SwitchresX. Currently these isn’t working anymore on Apple Silicon MacBooks. For me and many other users this is unacceptable behaviour and completely destroys the Mac experience. At a price of 2300€ incl. Apple Care, I would expect that I can at least adjust this little thing as I want it to be?! So for me the MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon is a total bad buy. I need this solution for my daily work to earn my money and Apple thinks that they have to patronize their users, technically without any sense and reason. This is really the last and makes Apple really unsympathetic! Where is the problem to let a user decide which resolution he wants on a device he paid for?!? Why do you always have to jail everything and take freedom away?! That makes me so mad, I would like to throw the MacBook in the trash. It's always the same, a very cool device, but Apples dictatorship.

Whelp, I learned a lovely lesson about Lacie today. Their customer driver extensions on MacOS are ultimately as bad as I figured they would be and it seems to have bitten them in the ***. It seems their current drivers aren't compatible with M1 Mac minis (and I haven't seen a single post/article mentioning this). I was planning on migrating my Plex server from an i3 Mac mini to an M1 based device, but now I have to reshuffle my setup with another one of my computers due to lack of driver compatibility (and no advertised lack of support). I'm seriously considering getting rid of my Lacie 6Big at this point and swapping it out for an OWC thunderbolt 3 rack supported DAC. -\_-. I'm hoping other people just read this because honestly, I have nothing but nasty remarks towards Lacie in this regarding considering their #1 use for their RAIDs involves the people who will be buying M1 Macs. Does anyone have a workaround for this?

It says UIRefreshControl is not supported when running Catalyst apps in the Mac idiom. Consider using a Refresh menu item bound to ⌘-R what would I need to do to fix this to make my apps work with Catalyst?

By using NSWindowCollectionBehaviorCanJoinAllSpaces, I can make NSWindow show up on every already opened space, however, it won't show up on spaces that were added after app launch. How can I display NSWindow on spaces which were added after app launch? For example SideNotes app it can be shown on all spaces, on already opened ones before app launch and ones which were created after app launch.

The iMac runs perfectly when no external monitor is plugged, but as soon as the monitor is connected it crushes within an hour.
Did anyone found any solution to this problem?
It happened both with Catalina and after updating to BigSur
Thank you in advance to anyone responding.

Hey guys, I just upgraded from an XPS 13 to an M1 MacBook.
I was hooking everything up and then installed Razer Synapse 2.0.
AT FIRST it detected everything, but cannot change the RGB settings or keybinds. Then eventually stopped working altogether. I do noticed that in the status bar on top, the Razer icon does appear and it shows all of my peripherals as well a the profiles.
So Synapse detects them, just won't work. I looked at my fiancé's MacBook and compared the two. Everything works on her MacBook. I then found the difference.
I noticed in System Preferences >Security & Privacy >Privacy >Input Monitoring, it is missing RzDeviceEngine.
Is there any way I can add that? I tried hitting the + | - and not sure how to add it to the list since I found the .plist but it needs to be a .app.
Thanks for reading and hope this helps other M1 users!

I need to modify my security policy of Disk, from the startup security utility, but when I try so to modify the options such as: Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers
or
Allow remote management of kernel extensions and automatic software updates
Whenever I click on one of or both of these I get the following pop up after doing my credentials error:
”The operation couldn’t be completed.
(com.apple.BootPolicy.updateTagError error 11.)”
my computer:
MacBook Pro m1, 13 inch, 500Gb disk, 8Gb ram
I have disk encryption disabled.
I’m running MacOS 11.1
On my new computer with a Mac Mini M1 processor, when I try to boot up React etc. applications with yarn start or npm start, they do not run for a long time before 30 40 minutes. Have you encountered such a problem?
Hello!
I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing a significant CPU drain from Spotlight (specifically corespotlightd) in macOS 11.2.2.
Since updating to macOS 11.2.2 any time that I access spotlight using Command + Space Bar I immediately experience a system wide lag. Viewing this in Activity Monitor I see a %CPU spike of corespotlightd in the realm of 200-400%. that last for anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds.
I have sent this in through Feedback Assistant, but no other reports seem to have been linked to the radar.
I have attempted a few different fixes as well: Terminal killall corespotlightd resolves the issue momentarily, but does not fix long term
Restarting computer does nothing to solve
Re-indexing spotlight does not solve
I have also disabled more advanced search functions (Bookmarks and History, Contacts, Events and Reminders, Fonts, Mail & Messages, Music, Siri Suggestions, and Movies are all disabled) - This did not fix the issue.
I have also disabled search for external hard drives which also did not solve the issue.
Open to any other suggestions for fixes, or if anyone else has a similar issue.
Mac mini, 2018 (2020 release), 3.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7, 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4. External GPU Radeon RX 570 4 GB.

Hey,
is there anything that works for you with Big Sur, on legacy Intel hardware or Apples M1?
I can't even shut down one of my Macs without a kernel panic occurring.
Feedback Assistant is useless as no bugs I reported are fixed and I never get a reply or a request for more informations.
Level 2 support takes hours to write everything in a ticket, only to have no one respond.
This Input field here on 'Ask a Question' doesn't show any text because it is broken.
Nothing seems to get fixed at Apple. Most of the bugs and kernel panics I encounter are in forums where people described them last year in the beta phase.
Is there a why to push Apple to increase the software quality?
Thanks,
Martin

I upgraded to Big Sur 11.2.3 and now the toolbar brightness keys do not work. Brightness indicator appears on screen and the buttons appear to adjust up or down, but the actual brightness does not change unless I manually go into Display Settings and adjust.
I've seen old posts about this issue from ~5 months ago, all marked as resolved. Is this a new issue with the upgrade?
Have tried restarting and turning off / on all auto brightness settings. My system is 1 week old, M1 Macbook Pro.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I have an iMac Retina 5k, 27" 2017 w 3.8GHZ process and 64gb of memory with a 2t hard drive and iCloud. Since the move to Big Sur (Big Slow) finder hangs and gets spinning beachballs if I try to move a file or folder. I can do this on my other iCloud devices that are on Catalina 10.15.7 without issue.
I've rebooted in safe mode. I've remove all start programs. I've reinstalled Big Sur 11.2.3, I've run 1st aid on all drives and they are good.
Anyone have this issue and try all these things? Anyone have a fix. I'm out of ideas and I even chatted with support to see if they could help no go there and I'm dead in the water now.

Hi, I have a log here but it doesn't seem to have an obvious backtrace. I'm not experienced enough with logs yet to see what's causing this crash. Any advice?
Log/Text attaching isn't working, so log below, apologies.
"Binary images" lines of the log have been removed to save the thread length as much as possible.

I like to do most of my text processing in TextEdit, but since updating to Big Sur, it has become much more unstable, freezing unexpectedly (spinning beach ball of death). Some days it may happen only once, but some days (like today) it happens every half hour or so. It feels like Windows in the 1990s, when you were always working under a sword of Damocles, saving every few seconds and just waiting for the drop...
I don't think there's a single thing I'm doing when it happens, but I've often noticed it happening right when I accidentally zoom the TextEdit window by pinching (something I never mean to do in TextEdit and which is mostly annoying, btw). But it also happens when I'm doing nothing but typing on a keyboard (also external). I also do tend to use an external display connected by HDMI, which I suspect even more.
Running 11.2.3 on MacBook Pro 13-inch 2020. I saved a recent crash report, if it helps.
Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

MacBook Pro 13" (2015) needed new battery. To drain existing battery I let MacBook on, but also update OS X to Big Sur. Replaced battery and charged it. Upon boot, all worked but not keyboard. Trackpad works but keyboard doesn't. Replaced track pad cable, but keyboard is still nil. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

Hi
On Big Sur I get this troubling issue that when I open a pre- existing TextEdit file which already contains text, it displays as blank i.e. as empty.
I have to repeatedly open the file before the text is displayed! Sometimes the only thing that works is to quit TextEdit and try again.
I'm running macOS Big Sur 11.2.3 on a Macbook Air.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
