I'm living in china and the default search engine is Baidu. The results of Baidu is really bad and for privacy concern I have no intention to use it or send my questions to them. Can we change it to Google or Being? I haven't found any option to achieve that. Also, I have set my default search engine of Safari to Google, but Siri still search my question by Baidu.

I have got disabled Siri suggestions (general & individual for apps), but everytime on locked screen it appears notoriously (for almost anything: safari, photos, ...). Never got that kind of problems in iOS12. Do you have any working solutions? I've been fighting with that problem for over a year now - it's so frustrating.

Hi everyone I am having a problem with Siri Spotlight/app suggestions partially not working. Started on iPhone 11 Pro Max on iOS 14 beta and now it is still present in new iPhone 12 pro max on official iOS 14 release.  they will work for some time time and then I swipe down and nothing shows just a search bar. If I type in it all magically appears again and will work fine for an unspecified time. Then to crash again.  did everything, all kinds of resets and even restore via cable and mac, it will just not work.  Apple support didn’t help much.  it seems to work fine if I have nothing installed beside Apple apps. When I install at least one or two third party apps it starts to act funny with the spotlight page.  so Apple has the solution for this yet or even aware of the issue?

If I say "Hey Siri, turn down the temperature" Siri will switch the thermostat from Heat Only to Auto and try to cool the house to the new temperature. It's currently -17 outside so I don't want it to do this, just lower the thermostat setting, nothing else. There must be a way to prevent Homekit from arbitrarily changing the thermostat's mode, especially without confirming it somehow.

Obviously I’m aware there’s no tab key on the iPhone keyboard, but I swear on my previous iPhone - which was definitely not on the latest iOS up because of storage shortages - I could use the dictate/mic button to say “tab key” and it would indent the paragraph in google docs etc. as if I’d pressed the tab key on my computer. However I just tried on my new iPhone and it just types out the words tab key? Super confused as to why this is something Apple would get rid of, but I checked the list of dictation commands and it’s not there? Is there any other way to indent paragraphs now?

We are currently experiencing a usability issue in our App. We also discovered this issue for sites in Safari as well. While using Voiceover in iOS 13.3+, we've discovered that VO skips all tables that are using a caption. This occurs when a user swipes to read the contents of the page. We also observed that using the "rotor" and choosing tables, it will not recognize that there is a table on the page. This has been repeated by multiple users on different devices. Our testing also encompassed VO on macOS Catalina and VO worked as expected for all tables we tested. Has anyone else come across this issue?

The session says that "when someone taps Add to Siri, the shortcut is added instantly, using your suggested invocation phrase". (at 21 min in Video) Now we can see that new UI at iOS 15 beta 2. But on iPadOS 15 beta 2, it looks like unexpected behavior. It looks like INUIEditVoiceShortcutViewController shows in UISplitViewController, but we expect that in UIViewController itself. And when we tap "Back" button, INUIEditVoiceShortcutViewController shows on left side of window. It's Okay when the window has narrow width. This is what i expected. Is there any way to implement "Add to Siri" feature or is it an iPadOS bug ?

Hi all, I am using a UIViewControllerRepresentable that wraps the INUIAddVoiceShortcutButton and presents the INUIAddVoiceShortcutViewController for the user to be able to add my shortcut to Siri. In the past I remember the interaction involved recording a voice trigger (sample article with reference screenshots, https://bit.ly/3ee1Avf However iOS14 seems to have removed this interaction and wants to add the shortcut straight to Siri? Can someone confirm that this is true and there no longer a way to trigger recording the voice prompt? My usecase might be a little more unique where we are building apps for an ingdigenous language program in Australia and we want Siri to trigger on What' Wiradjuri for ... which obviously is not an English word. Thanks for any points and appreciate you sparing your time to read/respond.

Just wondering if this is a Beta issue. (running Beta 4) Homepod Siri will say “Which shortcut would you like to run” but then never respond to my answer. It can also not receive audio from certain channels (NBC)

In Korea, I heard that this new feature, Siri On Device (AI), does not support Korean. I would like to send a suggestion in hopes that the Siri on-device function will be supported in Korea as well. Thanks for reading this long post and I hope you have a nice day

As per the subject, in the UK this happens so I cannot use the word "period' as an alternative. This is a variation on a long-standing issues still not resolved but introduced for me with IOS 14: ...When using dictation in any application, and this is very random, when I say the words ‘full stop’ so that it adds a . to the end of my text it will randomly also add the word paragraph with a capital P. So it looks like this . Paragraph I have deleted the custom dictionaries and words et cetera and this lasts for a short while but it’s come back again. I have now done a full reset and set up as new on my phone and the problem still exists.

Hi, We're working on a non-communication app that would like to send important (health related) updates through the local notification system (UserNotifications). We're sure that these notifications could fit into the "time sensitive" category due to their health relevance. However, one important feature that we need is querying if the user has focus mode enabled and if we're allowed to break through the current focus mode set by the user. Apple provides the Intent API to check if there's a current focus mode enabled, however, it is bound to the "Communication Notification" capability. This capability have its intended use just for chat/instant messenger apps. We're wondering if we could leverage this capability for our purposes even without fitting into the "Communication" app category.

Just a heads up to others; I installed the 15.1 beta this morning on a perfectly functional HomePod and after restarting, it's been completely unable to connect to the Internet. Any Siri request is met by "I'm having trouble connecting to the Internet" and refers to me to the Home app. The Home app has no information, and the HomePod has presence on the WiFi network, and the network is functioning fine. I performed a full device reset, with the red light and all, and after setting it up again, it worked for about 15 minutes before losing Internet again. Something to do with the beta, clearly, as it was working up until the installation of 15.1. Reported via Feedback, but, wanted to mention here in case others have an issue.

I'm trying to find specific information on how Apple transfers & stores the voice data that's transferred for speech recognition in Safari as part of WebSpeechAPI. All I keep seeing are generic privacy documents that do not provide any detail. Is anyone able to point me in the right direction of an explanation of how customer data is used?

I just noticed that siri custom intents are not resolving correctly for DURATION type parameters. Siri keeps providing the default value even after the user speaks. This happens on the new IOS 15 devices. See my code snippet     guard let duration = intent.parkingTime else{       completion(INTimeIntervalResolutionResult.needsValue())       return     }      /* Siri keeps returning 0 even if the user says 100 */     if(intent.parkingTime?.doubleValue == 0){       completion(INTimeIntervalResolutionResult.needsValue())       return     }     print("PARKING TIME \(duration.doubleValue)")           completion(INTimeIntervalResolutionResult.success(with: TimeInterval(duration.doubleValue)))   }
