Hello, to participate in the Swift Student Challenge you have to build an interactive playground using the Swift Playgrounds app (on your Mac or iPad) if you want you can also convert a swift Xcode app project into a swift playground. This year's challenge has to be announced and it will be announced maybe soon so stay turned.
