Ongoing Device Setup ios 18.4 beta

Hi all, after installing ios 18.4 beta here in Europe (and also resetting and restoring my iphone given Apple Intelligence features were not working at all initially) my phone decided to reoptimise my whole photo library which took a while and I understand it was a battery consuming process. Nonetheless, this is all done, all Apple intelligence features supposedly work and my phone is still in ongoing device setup burning through the battery to the point I am sure this will make my battery health drop.

does anyone know what is going on (indexing?), how long it will take and why is it happening? Is it because of the 18.4 beta or because of having Apple Intelligence for the first time? can someone please confirm that at the very least this will NOT have to take place again after moving to the official 18.4? thanks

You wiped and restored your iPhone. When you backup an iPhone it doesn't save indexes and caches, so when you restore from a backup the iPhone has to recreate those caches and indexes.

I honestly don't understand why people think a few operations on their iPhone are going to kill their battery. Just let it do what it needs to do.

If you have an issue with the betas possibly using up battery, don't install the betas, especially not on your primary device. Install it on a secondary device, or not at all.

This is a good answer. So all the heavy processing had nothing to do with ios beta nor apple intelligence, rather the fact that I wiped and restored my iphone. now it finished and things look better, but I do believe that battery is getting drained faster on the beta. you also seem to believe that battery consuming processes wont harm the battery at all? You think this because they are infrequent or because it is other things that matter most, like staying in the 20-80 range?
