Removed appendices. They are now available as separate documents. Minor corrections in the overview chapter. Spelling and grammatical errors fixed.

Revised for Java 1.4.1. Most sections are completely new to reflect the completely new Java implementation. Only the user experience information has been retained although it has been updated as well. Structure of the document was modified dramatically to align with Sun’s presentation of the Java 2 platform.

2002-09-01

Format completely revised. Changed target emphasis from Mac OS 9 Java developers to Java developers coming from other platforms. Updated to include new features introduced in Java 1.3.1 including the Java.applet.plugin and information about hardware acceleration.

Updated for OS X version 10.2. Modified tutorials to work with new operating system and corrected some typographical errors.
