Simple Text Elements

Simple text elements are one-line elements that are used to display or format text on Apple TV.

decorationLabel

The decorationLabel element contains text used to describe a displayed element. decorationLabel can be a subelement of:

description

The description element contains text used to describe a displayed element. This element is often only one or two sentences long. description can be a subelement of:

date

The date element contains text used to display the associated date. date can be a subelement of:

The date string must be in one of the following formats:

  • yyyy-MM-dd

  • ISO Dates

  • RFC1123 Dates

monogram

The monogram element is used to display information associated with a monogramLockup element. monogram can be a subelement of:

ordinal

The ordinal element displays a number on the screen and provides proper spacing between the text and the number. Use the ordinal element to create an ordered list. The ordinal element can be a subelement of:

strike

The strike element creates a single, unbroken line that is displayed through the middle of the text contained in the strike element. It is commonly used to show that a piece of text has been redacted. strike can be a subelement of:

subtitle

The subtitle element contains text used to describe a displayed element. It is commonly used to provide a small amount of information about a product. subtitle can be a subelement of:

text

The text element contains the text to be displayed. This element is commonly used inside of other elements. text can be a subelement of:

title

The title element is used to display text. This element is commonly used to display the title for another element and is often only a couple of words long. title can be a subelement of:
