Network Activity Log Instrument

Overview

Instrument Description

The Network Activity Log instrument captures information from recorded network activity logs. It can record information from a single process or from all processes in the system. High network activity uses more energy.

Timeline Pane

The timeline pane displays graphs that represent the amount of network activity in the following categories:

  • Wi-Fi Packets (in)

  • Wi-Fi Packets (out)

  • Cell Packets (in)

  • Cell Packets (out)

Record Settings

This instrument doesn’t have any record settings you can configure.

Display Settings

This instrument has no configurable display settings.

Track Display Settings

These settings control how information is displayed in the timeline pane.

  • Network Activity: The current network activity.

Detail Pane Columns

Network Activity Detail Type

The following network activity columns are available in the detail pane.

The time of the activity.

Wi-Fi Packets (in)

The number of Wi-Fi packets received.

Wi-Fi Packets (out)

The number of Wi-Fi packets sent out.

Wi-Fi Bytes (in)

The number of bytes received through Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi Bytes (out)

The number of bytes sent out through Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi Errors (in)

The number of errors from incoming Wi-Fi packets.

Wi-Fi Errors (out)

The number of errors from outgoing Wi-Fi packets.

Cell Packets (in)

The number of cells received.

Cell Packets (out)

The number of cells sent out.

Cell Bytes (in)

The number of bytes received through cells.

The number of bytes sent out through cells.

Cell Errors (in)

The number of errors from incoming cells.

The number of errors from outgoing cells.
