Zooming In, Zooming Out, and Isolating a Segment of the Data Collection Graph

Use your keyboard and mouse to change the way you view data collection graphs in the Instruments analysis tool.

Zooming In

While pressing the Shift key, drag across a section of the data collection graph to zoom in on it. As you drag, the resolution in time per pixel and the duration of the selection appears. The graph resizes to the selected resolution.

The screenshot below shows how to zoom in on a section of the data collection graph.

Zooming Out

While pressing the Control key, drag across the section of a data collection graph to zoom out. As you drag, the resolution in time per pixel appears. The graph resizes to the selected resolution. Note that the duration of the selection is shown but it is not meaningful to the Zoom Out operation.

The screenshot below shows how to zoom out a data collection graph.

Isolating a Segment of the Data Collection Graph

To view the data for a limited time period, drag across a section of the data collection graph. The start time and the duration of the time filter appear as you drag the cursor. The detail pane changes to display only the information contained within the time filter.

The screenshot below shows a time filter with its information displayed in the detail pane.
