# stop()

Forces the external display configurator to asynchronously stop configuring the external display.

```
func stop()
```

## Discussion

Call [`stop()`](/documentation/AVFoundation/AVCaptureExternalDisplayConfigurator/stop()) to force the [`AVCaptureExternalDisplayConfigurator`](/documentation/AVFoundation/AVCaptureExternalDisplayConfigurator) to asynchronously stop configuring the external display. Once stopped, the [`isActive`](/documentation/AVFoundation/AVCaptureExternalDisplayConfigurator/isActive) property changes to `false` and the [`activeExternalDisplayFrameRate`](/documentation/AVFoundation/AVCaptureExternalDisplayConfigurator/activeExternalDisplayFrameRate) becomes 0.
