This section describes the format of a pronunciation dictionary resource, which the Speech Manager uses to override its default pronunciation of words. The Speech Manager uses pronunciation rules as well as an internal dictionary (not stored in the same format as pronunciation dictionary resources) to determine how to pronounce words not included in a speech channel's installed pronunciation dictionaries. For an introduction to the use of and examples showing how your application can install and manipulate pronunciation dictionaries, see "Including Pronunciation Dictionaries" beginning on page 4-36.This section does not describe the format of voice resources or speech synthesizer resources, because you should not need to access them directly.
