Appeal to the App Review Board

If you disagree with the outcome of a review, you can file an appeal with the App Review Board. It's appropriate to file an appeal when:

  • Your app was rejected or removed, but you believe it follows the App Review Guidelines and the Apple Developer Program License Agreement.

  • Your account is facing termination, but you believe it complies with the App Review Guidelines and the Apple Developer Program License Agreement.

  • You believe you experienced unfair or biased treatment during review.

Note: Don't file an appeal to reinstate an already-terminated account, get a status update on your app, or request an expedited review. For these requests, use the appropriate Contact Us form instead.

  1. Before filing an appeal, reply to the rejection, removal, or termination message you received in App Store Connect and provide clarification about the issue. If this clarification is not sufficient to resolve the issue, proceed with filing an appeal.

  2. Go to Submit an appeal to App Review and describe why you believe your app or account follows the App Review Guidelines and the Apple Developer Program License Agreement.

For app rejections or removals, point to the specific requirements involved and explain how your app satisfies them.

For account terminations, reference the specific terms your account was found to be violating, and explain how your account meets those requirements. If the termination references other guideline violations you believe were in error, provide an additional explanation of those instances as well.

  3. The App Review Board will send you a message in App Store Connect once its investigation is complete. They may also message you in App Store Connect to request additional information or schedule a call to discuss the outcome of the investigation.

Note: Only submit one appeal per rejected or removed app. If an app's rejection or removal message cites multiple guideline violations, address all of them in one appeal.

What to include in your appeal

Do

  • Cite the specific guideline or terms your app was rejected or removed under, and explain point by point how your app meets it.

  • Include additional information about your app that is relevant to the rejection, removal, or pending termination decision you're disputing.

  • Use the form to submit appeals for up to five rejected or removed apps.

Don't

  • Don't file an appeal for requests from App Review for additional information or documentation about your app. This information is necessary for App Review to complete the review.

  • Don't include information that is not relevant to the rejection, removal, or pending termination decision you are appealing.

  • Don't file an appeal if you've addressed the issues App Review identified and resubmitted the app for review.

Example (Complete)

"My app was rejected under Guideline 2.1 for incomplete information. The demo account and setup steps needed to test the flagged feature are included in the App Review Information section of this submission, along with screenshots showing the feature working as described."

Example (Incomplete)

"This app is important to my business and shouldn't have been rejected. Please take another look."

Note: Appeals that include all required information help the App Review Board process your request quickly. Submitting a complete appeal does not guarantee that the App Review Board will overturn the rejection, removal, or termination.
