Background Location Indicator Remains Active Despite "Never" Permission Setting in iOS 18+
Hi everyone, I'm encountering an issue where the background location indicator remains visible on the status bar even though I have set the location permissions to Never for my app in the system settings. Despite taking all the necessary steps to stop location tracking (including stopping updates, geofencing, and other location-related services), the indicator still appears. This seems to be a bug since everything has been turned off on my end. Here’s what I’ve already tried: Setting location permissions to Never in the settings. Stopping startUpdatingLocation(), stopMonitoringSignificantLocationChanges(), and geofencing (using locationManager.stopMonitoringRegions()). Calling locationManager.showsBackgroundLocationIndicator = false. Ensuring that the CLLocationManager is fully invalidated. Despite all of this, the background location indicator still remains in the status bar. I’ve tested it on real devices, as well as in the simulator, with no improvement. Has anyone experienced something similar, or can suggest why this might be happening? Could this be related to an iOS 18+ issue? Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

In app purchase goes to Entered Billing Retry after free trail
I have a VPN application published in the app store. Used Ikev2 for this personal VPN. There are two in-app purchases. One is 'Monthly' and another is 'Yearly' with 3 days free trial. We have seen something strange for the yearly subscriptions which has free trail, the cancellation reason through the billing issue is too high like 70-80% due to billing retry state. Some other apps which have billing issues under 10% always. We have done some research and found that if the user doesn't cancel and Apple is unable to charge then it goes to a billing retry state. If users don't like the app, they could cancel their subscription/free trail easily but they are not doing this and why Apple unable to charge the bill after the trial ends. Am i missing something in the developer end?

Seeking Help - Need to Identify Date Contacts Were Added
Saw this info: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/contacts/cncontactstore But have no idea what I'm doing. This is a pressing matter and I need to determine the date/time contacts were originally created on my icloud account. I have tried the shortcuts method and it merely shows the date they were loaded into whichever device i'm logged in on if they were created a while ago

How to combine contextMenu & RoundedRectangle?
I am trying to create a list of not rectangular elements, each of which has a context menu. However, I am encountering an issue with the corners when performing a long press. What is the correct way to use such a combination? I don't want to use List because of its default styling. The issue takes place only while animation is in progress. Here's a simplified code example that can be copied pasted and ran in one file. RealityKit and MacOS - How to load Reality Composer Scene? Documentation Incomplete/Innacurate
"Although Xcode generates loading methods for all Reality Composer files in your Xcode project" I do not find this to be true, sadly. Does anyone have any luck or insight on how one can build just a simple MacOS app that will import a scene from a Reality File? The documentation suggests that the simple act of bringing a .Reality File in (What about .realitycomposerpro?) will generate code, but that doesn't seem to happen. The sample code (Spaceship) does not compile for MacOS. I'd really love just the most generic template of an Xcode Project that compiles with a button that pops open a scene., Like the VisionOS default immersive project.

How to Digitally Sign a PDF File in Swift?
I'm currently working on a project in Swift where I need to digitally sign a PDF file. I have the following resources available: Private Key stored in the iOS Keychain with a tag. Public Key also stored in the iOS Keychain with a tag. A valid certificate stored as a PEM string. I need to digitally sign a PDF file with the above keys and certificate, but I'm struggling to find a clear and straightforward example or guidance on how to achieve this in Swift. Specifically, I’m looking for help with: Creating the digital signature using the private key and certificate. Embedding this signature into the PDF file. Any considerations I should be aware of regarding the format of the signed PDF (e.g., CMS, PKCS7, etc.). If anyone has experience with digitally signing PDFs in Swift, I would greatly appreciate your guidance or code examples. Thank you in advance!

FirstResponderView/FirstResponderIndexPath in TableView
I found when I put a webView on the screen and then remove it, several properties in TableView including firstResponderView, FirstResponderIndexPath, and FirstResponderViewType have changed. These properties are hidden and I cannot change them. firstResponderView strong holds my cell, resulting in my cell not being able to call didEndDisplayCell when it slides out of the screen as expected. What should I do to avoid firstResponderView from strong holding my cell, or what should I do to release it?

traitCollectionDidChange iOS18
iOS18.2 / iPhone 16pro / Xcode 16.2 'traitCollectionDidChange' This function has been deprecated since ios17. However, in ios18, when I changed the app to the background state or changed it to the foreground state again, it was confirmed that the function worked. It hasn't been confirmed in ios17, but why is it only confirmed in ios18?

Using AsyncStream vs @Observable macro in SwiftUI (AVCam Sample Code)
I want to understand the utility of using AsyncStream when iOS 17 introduced @Observable macro where we can directly observe changes in the value of any variable in the model(& observation tracking can happen even outside SwiftUI view). So if I am observing a continuous stream of values, such as download progress of a file using AsyncStream in a SwiftUI view, the same can be observed in the same SwiftUI view using onChange(of:initial) of download progress (stored as a property in model object). I am looking for benefits, drawbacks, & limitations of both approaches. Specifically, my question is with regards to AVCam sample code by Apple where they observe few states as follows. Vision Framework Causes EXC_BREAKPOINT Error in Xcode App Playground (.swiftpm) File
I’m trying to use the Vision framework in a Swift Playground to perform face detection on an image. Please do not recommend switching to .xcodeproj, as I am making a submission for Apple's Swift Student Challenge, and they require that I use .swiftpm.

SwiftUI iOS18 Bug: 'contextMenu' does not recognize 'scaleEffect' and similar outside of 'ScrollView' parent
The Issue I am building a MessageChannelView, I take most advantage of all ScrollView mechanics by flipping it on it's head with .scaleEffect(y: -1), and then the content inside of it again with .scaleEffect(y: -1), so the content is back to normal. Putting .contextMenu() on any of the elements flipped back to normality will cause an ugly bug on iOS18, but not on iOS17. This is because .contextMenu() on iOS18 does not recognize the .scaleEffect(y: -1) outside of it's ScrollView parent. Minimal Replication 1.) Create any View with SwiftUI similar to this: ScrollViewReader { scrollView in ScrollView { VStack { Text("Test!") .contextMenu { Button(action: {}) { Label("Copy Link", systemImage: "doc.on.doc") } } } .scaleEffect(y: -1) } .scaleEffect(y: -1) } 2.) Run on a physical device with iOS18 More I tested this on three different physical iPhone devices, iOS16, iOS17 and my main device iOS18. The bug only exists on iOS18.

Xcode 16.2: -checked-async-objc-bridging=off doesn't work
In the Xcode 16.2 release notes, it says to avoid a memory leak in Swift 6 you should "Pass -checked-async-objc-bridging=off to the Swift compiler using “Other Swift Flags” in Xcode build settings." https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode-release-notes/xcode-16_2-release-notes#Swift However, when I add this value to OTHER_SWIFT_FLAGS (either in the Xcode build settings interface, or in an .xcconfig file), it yields a build error: error: Driver threw unknown argument: '-checked-async-objc-bridging' without emitting errors. Does anybody know if there's a trick to get this working that isn't explained in the release notes?

AppleArchive crashes on corrupt archive instead of failing gracefully
We're trying to implement a backup/restore data feature in our business productivity iPad app using UIDocumentPickerViewController and AppleArchive, but discovered AppleArchive crashes instead of failing gracefully when decrypting a corrupt archive. As described in forum post 765101, UIDocumentPickerViewController can handoff a corrupt copy of an archive to UIDocumentPickerDelegate under specific circumstances. We've duplicated this behavior with iPadOS 16.6.1 and 17.7 when building our app with Xcode 15.4 targeting minimum deployment of iPadOS 16. We haven't tested this with the bleeding edge iPadOS 18. Our app is primarily Objective-C, but it utilizes the Swift-based AppleArchive 'EncryptingAndDecryptingDirectories' sample code associated with WWDC21 session: 10233: Bring Encrypted Archives and Performance Improvements to Your App with Accelerate. The WWDC21 'EncryptingAndDecryptingDirectories' Swift sample project crashes in a similar manner when a corrupt archive file created by UIDocumentPickerViewController is dropped into the sample app's window for decryption (see attached crash log). Does anyone know if there's a workaround for the 'EncryptingAndDecryptingDirectories' sample project to prevent AppleArchive from crashing when decrypting a corrupt archive? crash log.txt

Swift Compiler Issue?
I've encountered a strange issue with Swift and I wonder if this is a compiler error or if I didn't understand something correctly. The following sample code shows a weird issue (please ignore that the demo code itself would not make that much sense in this form, it's just the version from a big and more complicated project, where this would make more sense): class Test { var data: [String:[String:String]] = [:] func test() { let setValue: ((String, String, String) -> Void) = { [weak self] key, id, value in if self!.data[key] == nil { self!.data[key] = [:] } let oldValue = self!.data[key]![id] if oldValue == nil { self!.data[key]![id] = value } } setValue("0", "1", "2") } } When changing the "data" dictionary through the closure within the "test()" function, everything works as expected until the "if" condition where the oldValue is checked against nil. If I set a break point to this condition, the Xcode debugger tells me that oldValue is nil (which is expected), but the code within the if condition is NOT executed. The comparison oldValue == nil should be be true (because oldValue is actually nil), but the compiler seems to assume something else. But If I do not user "self!" but instead "self?" then it does work as expected and the code within the if condition is executed. What I am missing here? Is this the correct behavior or a compiler bug?

Passing compatible primitive types as reference in cpp-swift interop
I have an xcode project which has both cpp and swift code. In one of my usecase I am passing primitive type variables from swift to cpp by reference( primitives types list here as per the new cpp-swift interop documentation) swift code: // primitive check code:Bool var x : Bool = true // When we are passing a variable as a Reference, we need to use explicitly use'&' student.PassBoolAsReferenceType (&x) // interop call to cpp code print (x) Cpp code: void Student::PassBoolAsReferenceType(bool &pValue) noexcept { std::cout << pValue << std::endl; pValue = false; } The above code fails during compilation with no clear error message "Command SwiftCompile failed with a nonzero exit code" However, all the other primitive types that I tested worked for the above code like Int, Float, Double etc. Only the Bool interop fails. Can someone explain why is it not possible for bool? I m using the new interop introduced in swift 5.9.
