Issue with long filenames (>60Char) sent from mail to Outlook

We are trying to email pdf files with very long filenames from an iOS app. The filename is critical to our work flow- and app. When the filename is > 60 Characters, Outlook renames the file to “Untitled attachment 000nn.pdf”. This only occurs when the attachment is sent between iOS mail and Outlook. It occurs for any pdf with name >60Char (was not specific to pdf's created by our app) .

The filename is correct when the email is viewed in other systems ( we tried Gmail web and iphone app, Microsoft mail, and mail on both mac and iphone).

The filename is also correct when the email is re-routed to Outlook via another email system ( including via the Gmail app on iPhone).

The filename always became "untitled.." when last routed through iOS mail and viewed in Outlook (even if the email originated in Outlook and the file came from MS)

Can anyone advise if there is a workaround from the iOS side please - we need to retain the long filename and have no control over the user's outlook account. Most appreciated.

That's probably more a question to ask on Outlook forum.

That seem to be a long standing problem with outlook:

Thank you for the links Claude31. Unfortunately my problem is that it sits somewhere between Outlook and iOS mail.

I've checked the internet headers and it looks like filenames are split by iOS mail when > 64 characters ( as indicated in the microsoft thread). in my case that looks like:

filename*0=Sxxxx-001-xxxxxxxxx-6xx-xx.xx.xx-Bxxx-xxx-xx_xx-2018-05-03-Creat;

filename*1=ed_19B25117-0E1E-4098-868F-2D46C8EE79FD.pdf

The split filename is then not able to be read by Outlook. So issue on both sides.

I only have control of the app side of things..
