Connect iPhone to Apple TV 4th Gen [Xcode]

Hello,

I noticed there is a way to display devices in a list (Apple TV 4th Gen) that you can connect directly to it without AirPlay Mirroring. I was using SketchParty TV and noticed this option when playing around the app. How can I achieve something like that using Xcode?

Thanks

Joe

Xcode is an IDE. It connects to devices via USB cables for the purpose of installing and debugging apps.

If you're talking about how *your* app running on some platform (watchOS, OS X, iOS etc.) could communicate with an app running on Apple TV, Xcode is not at all involved with that process. Most likely you would use regular TCP/IP networking. You can use Bonjour to discover nearby devices on the network and then communicate using a protocol you define. Details would depend what OS platform(s) you are talking about.

I know what Xcode is lol...thanks for letting me know. I don't see how it is not involved though. The app code is written using xcode thus how the viewcontroller is displaying something like the picture below. I assume you mean use the Bonjour services to discovery devices.

Thanks for playing SketchParty TV, it means a lot. I can't tell you exactly what's involved, but @junkpile's answer is a good place to start investigating. I also wrote about it here: https://medium.com/@mattbraun/sketchparty-tv-for-the-new-apple-tv-the-story-so-far-ca4be9076a6a

Thank you, of course not expecting exactly what you did, I want to learn myself and see what I can do 🙂 I will read the post and check out Bonjour then. Great app btw, you are welcome!
