I am developing a market with multiple brands. Do I need permission from all brands to be able to use their image? I don't know if there is any requirement when uploading my app to the store.

Yes, if you use their logo or their image, you need to request. I'm not a legal expert, but that applies if you use image as a promotion element (large image, gallery of images…)? In a similar manner, you can use some music if it lasts just a few seconds.
