See where the star Sirius is rising for the first time each year

For the ancient Egyptians the first rising of the star Sirius defined their begin of the New Year. As the azimuth location on the horizon and day varies by latitude and Earth's irregularities in its orbit over the years, this app is the solution to keep in sync with the star!

It also helps in case you plan to design a new temple, to orient it correctly. Also helpful to check ancient existing temple orientations if visor lines to the rising location can be found.

The app requests access to the camera to blend in its compass markers during the live view and needs location access. No data is collected or transmitted.

Except for accessing the live camera view, all GUI code is written in SwiftUI in this app.

Version 1.0.2 is now released and also in the same testflight links above with significant improvements in usability, also on smaller screens and faster calculation without noticeable delay now. Even works on old 2016 iPhone SE with iOS 15!

Version 1.1.0 now released to the app store and also in Testflight for free with the links above with much faster calculation now and cleaned up GUI and access to years down to 13000 BC into the past. Still all pure SwiftUI for the GUI except for the live camera image in the background which needed UIKit.
