I’ve decided that to prepare my app for Duo I need to take iPhone landscape mode more seriously and use viewThatFits to cover landscape versus portrait.
That works, even in the Beta Duo simulator, but the tabbar on non-Duo devices does not flip to vertical mode.
Any idea how to achieve this (especially on iOS26) so that I’m prepared for the imminent Duo release?

When using system tab bars and toolbars, they will adjust to the appropriate placement according to the device and available size.
Simply create one tab bar, and resize your app on iPad and Duo – the system should handle the rest. If you have more specific questions, or you are trying achieve a specific goal, feel free to add more info.
At this time, there's no way to get a vertical system tab bar on non-Duo iPhones.
Note, iPhone Duo is considered an iPhone idiom, there is no specific device idiom for Duo. If you would like to see this functionality added, please file an enhancement request using Feedback Assistant, and reply with the FB number when completed.
