When using a background color for a UINavigation controller it seems the header does not extend to the top of the device for iPhone Duo when its closed in portrait mode. See screenshot. It should fill the entire 'status' bar up to top of device, Landscape correctly works, its just Portrait.
Any thoughts on if this is 'expected' behavior? Seems odd to not just extend the navbar alll the way to the top.

I have confirmed the relevant engineering teams are aware of this behavior.
It would be a good idea to file a feedback report using Feedback Assistant so that they are aware of your reports. In that report, the relevant engineering teams can reply to you directly – they can request more information or provide if a resolution has been found in some way. Reply with the FB number when completed, I will make sure it is routed to the correct team. Include details about software versions used in your report, and a minimal sample project that you are using.
As a workaround, try applying the color to the content layer rather than the navigation itself:
For example, instead of applying the color to your UINavigationBarAppearance, move the color into a scrollable content view.
