How to delete .Trashes in Catalina?

I would like to empty the trash on my external USB stick only. I've used to


rm -rf /Volumes/usbstick/.Trashes



but that doesn't work any more with Catalina (operation not permitted). How can I selectively delete the trash on a USB stick in Catalina?
