Question about provisioning profiles

Hi

I have an app up and running on the iOS app store. I would like to distribute a Mac desktop version of the app. I have created an app ID and certificates for distribution outside the Mac App Store and for the installer.

When I go to add a provisioning profile, there are only two choices:

  • Create a distribution provisioning profile to submit your app to the Mac App Store.
  • Create a provisioning profile to install development apps on test devices.

Neither of these is what I want to do. I wish to create a profile for distribution outside the app store, but that isn't an option.

I'm not sure how to proceed.

thanks,

David Powell

Did you try creating a developer ID signed archive/application with a "Developer ID Application" certificate (no profile...)?

Seen these docs?

Distributing Applications Outside the Mac App Store

If you’re distributing outside the Mac App Store then you’re using Developer ID. Developer ID apps neither require nor can use a provisioning profile.
