Develop Custom App to Read NFC Tags

I want to develop a custom app that will be able to read NFC tags.


After going through some articles I have found that NFC in iPhone 6s is only available for Apple Pay. Also I have not found any such sample code or library to integrate NFC related code in the application.


So is it possible to develop any custom app to support NFC?

Is NFC API available in iOS 10 ?

I would like to use NFC Iphone6 Chip to read/write any Tags ...
