We just startet integrating Mac Books / Mac OS in our system environemnt replacing some Ubuntu and Windows machines for web and app development.
We found that our 21:9 4K Displays from Dell and LG do not support hidpi scaling. Only the options for nomal resolutions work / appear but result in a blurry picture. (like you would expect for a non hidpi res change)
We already tried almost anything I think, from disabling SIP + running
sudo defaults delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist DisplayResolutionEnabled`to trying QuickResX, SwitchResX and also creating a custom config with custom resolutions.
No luck with Sierra, and most of the tests we also did on el capitan with same results on 2 15" Macbook pros
I wonder if there's any 21:9 4k Display capable of hdpi scaling with mac os. I would assume this a software thing mac os related.
Maybe a problem with the format of 21:9 or 3440x1440 resolution in general?
We had no problem on Ubuntu and Windows with scaling.
Having lot's of space is fine, but some of our developers, including me, prefer a crisp and sharp ui + fonts at a normal size
