Accelerometer and gyroscope axes for Apple Watch

Hi,

The documentation for accessing raw accelerometer events makes clear what the axes orientations are on an iPhone, but I cannot seem to find anything that explicitly states the orientations for Apple Watch.

Is this information documented?

The axes for the iPhone and Apple Watch are similar.

If you place a phone and a watch side by side on a desk with

  • the screens face up
  • the phone power button and watch crown both on the right hand side

they both have the “same” axes.

On the watch:

  • +X is to horizontally to the side towards the crown
  • +Y is to horizontally towards the top edge of the watch
  • +Z upwards vertically from the watch face
