When Passkeys in iCloud Keychain will become officially available on macOS?

Right now users need to enable passkeys from Safari by enabling the developer mode in order to use them in applications. From the docs:

In macOS, choose Safari > Preferences, click the Advanced tab, and select the “Show Develop menu in menu bar” option. Then choose the Develop > Enable Syncing Platform Authenticator menu in Safari.

Is Apple planning to enable it by default in later releases of macOS? Are there any official applications already using this feature in their applications?

Passkeys are officially available in macOS Ventura and iOS 16. You can find more details in the Meet passkeys session.

I am missing something. On Safari>Develop, I am not seeing a Syncing Platform Authenticator switch.

Same over here

  • I can find and "enable syncing platform authenticator" in the Safari Developer menu, BUT when I go to use it it states that I have to "connect my device to Xcode" and then enable it in iOS Settings. Not sure how to do that part.
