How to use the ambient light sensor

We have an app that we distribute through or MDM software. We have an enterprise account, so we are not worried about being rejected from the App Store.

I have the need to learn to access the ALS to increase the accuracy of the light detection for use with setting the camera ISO settings more effectively with our specific use case.

I have seen the information online regarding the I/O Kit and even this reference: http://iphonedevwiki.net/index.php/AppleISL29003

It seems that this information is out of date. I need to be pointed in the right direction to find this information.

Any suggestions? I am avoiding using the camera data as I get distorted results as the lighting reflection from the screen on faces and other objects give me varying results.

There is, alas, no supported way to access the ambient light sensor.

To be clear, DevForums is a place to discuss supported techniques, so anything that wouldn’t pass App Review is simply out of scope for this context.
