Unable to activate Live Activities

Im having trouble enabling Live Activities in a new app. The option is not available in Xcode or in the developer portal. Is there something I have to do to activate this option?

I am also having the same issue. I've reported it via the feedback forums, but essentially:

Xcode cannot generate provisioning profiles that include the com.apple.developer.activitykit entitlement, even when the app is properly configured with ActivityKit capabilities and entitlements. I can't even see ActivityKit within the developer portal.

I'm unable to distribute apps with Live Activities through App Store Connect or TestFlight. This affects both Xcode automatic signing.

I am also unable to activate Live Activities in my app entitlements because it is not on the the developer portal, either. Can not check it to select it.

I'm starting to think this is a manual approval process by Apple as I've tried everything to get this to work at this point.

Facing the exact same issue. I contacted support but no answer. Bringing visibility to this thread.

I got a response and it was to read the documentation... no matter even if I start a new project, ActivityKit is not there.

Thank you for this thread, I have spent the last 3 hours trying to add in activity kit, live activities, and car play for my app and have tried everything. Thought I was going mad.

I am also unable to find where to activate this or add it in the Xcode

Apple have reached out, I'll be in touch with any updates if I manage to get it working.

I faced the same issue two weeks ago. Has anyone managed to solve this or get an answer from Apple on how to do this?

Not yet @Pavel_Suchkou - I've sent a bunch of logs to Apple, hoping to hear back this week.

Same Issue this is frustrating!

Having same issue. Support just sent me links to the docs 🙄 My error says "Provisioning profile doesn't include the com.apple.developer.activitykit entitlement" but the docs says nothing about how to add ActivityKit Entitlement.

Facing same issue. Bumping for visibility.

Having the same issue since June. Bumping.

Just encounterd this issue in August 2025. Trying to add a Live Activity via XCode only gives me "Live Activity request failed: unsupportedTarget". There is no way to add it as an entitlement in the UI. There is a checkbox to "include Live Activities" when adding a widget but that didn't seem to work.

Also having this problem. Very frustrating. Anyone got it working?

I'm having the same issue. I hope someone from apple notices this thread

Also getting the same issue. Ive tried every possible way.

FOUND THE ISSU! The issue is that all of us vibe-coded this :) Remove the appkit entitlement. Make sure to have the Supports Live Activity in the info.plist and that should be enough! After I've done that, my activity started working flawlessly.

Why is this not being addressed? Do Apple developers review these threads? I have the same issue and blocking my projects. What action items can be taken? or How do we get Apple to replay?

Same problem here!

Thank you for sharing this. I would be delighted to assist you with this ActivityKit issue. We can start by filing a bug report on the latest version. To facilitate this, we require a reproducible sample.

Do you get the same results with just the relevant code in a small test project? If so, please share a link to your test project. That'll help us better understand what's going on. If you're not familiar with preparing a test project, take a look at Creating a test project.

After posting that we can move to a bug report.

Once you open the bug report, please post the FB number here for my reference.

If you have any questions about filing a bug report, take a look at Bug Reporting: How and Why?

Getting all this will help me move the issue forward. Thanks so much.

I believe you need a paid developer account and have regular push notifications enabled. Then things should work...
