Notarization submissions stuck "In Progress"

These have been stuck in progress for a long time. Usually this process is fairly quick for this app:

id: 92caae7f-1796-4928-bb35-72f5f2667786 id: 3645e93f-a8ac-4826-8a4a-690f980dde8e id: 3645e93f-a8ac-4826-8a4a-690f980dde8e

What can be done, it is holding back deployments :(

You can expect that most uploads will be notarised quickly. Occasionally, some uploads are held for in-depth analysis and may take longer to complete. As you notarise your apps, the system will learn how to recognise them, and you should see fewer delays.

For lots of additional info about notarisation, see Notarisation Resources. Specifically, it links to a Q&A with the notary service team that’s quite instructive.

Interesting. Based on what I see here in the forums, most folks in this situation don’t have an app with a long notarisation history.

These have been stuck in progress for a long time.

Can you elaborate on what “long time” means here?

Hi, I’m seeing the same issue on my side.

I have multiple notarization submissions that have been stuck in In Progress for an unusually long time. This process is normally very fast for this app.

My submission IDs are: • a6f37169-19a7-4abc-b086-3f298866f65d • 596e3ca4-e8a6-4ba9-9ac7-cf07a430eebb

Both have been in In Progress for nearly 30 hours now with no status change.

The uploads were successful, the app is properly signed with a valid Developer ID Application certificate, and notarization usually completes within minutes.

This is currently blocking deployments. Is there an ongoing issue with the notarization service, or anything we can do to unblock these submissions?

Thanks.

I've been deploying this same app for over a year. This particular commit has barely changed anything. I'm now at 24 hours of constantly trying to code sign to get a release out :(

Update: I tried notarizing/code signing another unrelated app under this same company/cert that normally signs quickly which is also stalling. This is systematic or account level and not code specific.

This is … account level …

Right. My experience, based on what I see here on the forums, is that:

  • Once you enter this state, it affects all notarisation for that team until the state clears.
  • This state usually clears after a day or two.

If you remain stuck after a week, please post:

  • The request UUID of the oldest stuck request
  • The creation date of that request

and I’ll dig deeper.

Thanks Quinn for your responses here on the forum.

But the way this process works is frankly completely unacceptable from $3,6T company. There's no way to estimate how long the "detailed review queue" is. No indication that you are stuck in "detailed review queue". No emails saying "hey, sorry the review is taking a while".

I hope you have someone you can complain to about the current state of notarization. I understand it must be difficult to deal with all these complaints on this forum.

This is my first experience with Apple Developer Program, and I've just been waiting since Monday (it's now Friday), with absolutely no indication that anything is happening at all. I'm really grateful I never had to use any Apple products until now.

It's not OK that the documentation says, "this usually takes less than an hour" and then it can actually take, who knows how long. At least if the documentation was accurate, you could prepare for this and start the notarization process well in advance to the date when you want to ship your software.

After creating a few support tickets and waiting a week notarization is now working for me again. I never got a reply to my support tickets and I'm not sure what happened but it seems to be unstuck for now. Thanks for all the help and replies here.

I’m trying to notarize an Electron app for distribution outside the Mac App Store, but every submission is rejected with error 7000.

I’ve had this issue for over a week with no resolution. The error message says “Team is not yet configured for notarization” which suggests something needs to be enabled on Apple’s side. Has anyone encountered this and found a resolution?

Any guidance would be appreciated.
